Hero4 Update to v5.00

Alti-Force installer is now compatible with Hero4 software v5.00

We’re keeping up with the times (and updates).  The GoPro app and studio software has undoubtedly been urging you to update your Hero4 camera to the latest v5.00.  The time has come when you can update all your software and use Alti-Force, too!  We now have a compatible AFSP Installer (v2.30) available for download on our Support Page.

The only change in version 2.30 is for compatibility with the latest Hero4 software.  As always, send us a message if you encounter any trouble.

Should I update my Hero3+ or Hero3 camera?

No need (assuming you are using our installer v2.11 or newer).  The software in those cameras has not changed, so there is no need to download Alti-Force installer v2.30.

Alti-Force Altimeter for DashWare

Do You DashWare?

What is DashWare? It’s the editing software, acquired early this year by GoPro, for video that accepts data from the Alti-Force Sensor Pack and Alti-Force GPS mobile app to display animated gauges on your video.   We’ve made a few updates to the Alti-Force data profile to include smoothing by time-averaging the raw measurements.  The smoothing setting is still there for subtitles, and now you can do the same in DashWare.  Better yet, the latest download includes the Alti-Force altimeter also with a vertical speed indicator.  You can even make your own … no limits!

Data from Alti-Force GPS mobile app, as a quick reminder, is the GPX file saved with your video.  It can also be opened in DashWare with the standard GPX data profile, just be sure to select 1.0 Hz when adding the file to your project (one GPS update per second is common for most mobile devices using the Alti-Force GPS app).  DashWare has plenty of gauges to choose from or modify to your liking.  Give it a try, jazz up your videos with more visuals.

Compatibility with Hero4 v4.00

Alti-Force installer is now compatible with Hero4 software v4.00

After a couple weeks of trials on our end (and nothing but good results), we have unleashed a new installer for you.  The AFSPinstaller v2.21 is available for download on our Support Page.

The major change in version 2.21 is for compatibility with the Hero4 update, but we also embedded a minor provision for SP30 Expander circuits (such as the Haptic Feedback board).  As always, send us a message if you encounter any trouble.

Should I update my Hero3+ or Hero3 camera?

No need (assuming you are on v2.11).  The software in those cameras has not changed, so there is no need to download Alti-Force installer v2.21.   We’ll make another post if that changes.

Hero4 Software v4.00 – Wait?

GoPro has released a software update for the Hero4 camera.  Should you update?  We say, not yet!

If you are a GoPro App user, you may find your cameras being automatically updated, which will disable use of the Alti-Force Sensor Pack.  To revert back to GoPro Hero4 v3.00 with our Alti-Force software, you will need to download and run our AFSPinstaller v2.11b on the memory card.  Go to our Support Page to download the installer.

When will Alti-Force be compatible with v4.00?

We are working on a new installer that is compatible with the latest official software.  We will release it as soon as we can, but be patient, it could take us a few weeks to test it out.  Stay tuned!
